Who Am I?
Founded in 2015, Beatrice Balaj is an influential blog that covers everything from fashion, lifestyle, travel and beauty. After graduating from FIDM in 2010 with a Visual Communication degree, Beatrice decided to pursue a career in marketing and began working in advertising.
While working at 72andSunny, one of the greatest advertising agencies in Los Angeles, Beatrice began to pursue blogging by spending long sleepless nights and weekends working on her blog, for this was her favorite hobby. Working in advertising she realized that she missed the fashion industry. After two years, she made her dream into a reality when she left 72andSunny to begin her career as a freelance fashion stylist. This opened doors and many opportunities to live a happy life and travel, all while blogging.
The fashion industry really is a whole other world. Style belongs to everyone. The fact that individuals can express themselves through pairing different patterns, colors, cuts and textures together is what inspires Beatrice. What you’ll find on this fashion and lifestyle blog is Beatrice’s style. You will discover many different outlets, as well, one being fashion tutorials on how to wear certain styles, what to wear to specific events and where to shop for the hottest trends.
Beatrice will also take you on an adventure to Fashion Week where she covers press and front row publicity for www.beatricebalaj.com. You all have been so great! Thank you for following this awesome journey. Our team could not have embarked on this great dream without your love, kind words, encouragement and support!
Some of my highlights
- Press at the American Music Awards | The American Music Awards was everything I expected it to be. Since I was a young teenager, I remember my sisters and I would gather in our living room while my parents were not around and secretly watch the AMA’s. We could not watch it at a young age because my parents thought it was unfit for teenagers to watch adults dance and sing so promiscuously. Nevertheless, to be there and experience such talented artist perform and win awards is such a privilege that I am thankful for. There’s nothing like giving back and that is what the AMA’s did when they expanded their press for the first time in history to Bloggers and Youtubers. When I got out of the car and walked towards the entrance, my heart began to pound so quickly because I was nervous. I am an outgoing person, but when it comes to being asked questions like, “what are you wearing tonight” or, “where did you get your hair and makeup done” could either go right or wrong; be loved or judged. The process of being watched by so many people is nerve recking.
- Collaborating with Vegas.com | I am currently 25 years of age. I live only four hours from Las Vegas but have not been until recently this year.Vegas.com gave me the opportunity to explore Las Vegas and see all of the beautiful tourist attractions. My team and I got to shoot some photos inside one of my favorite hotels: The Cosmopolitan. We also snapped some photos outside of The Bellagio.
- Influencer for Julien Farel Salon | While attending New York Fashion Week, I was taken care of by Julien Farel Salon and got to squeeze an appointment for a blowout and hair treatment before Anna Sui’s AW/16 fashion show. The salon is located inside the Loews Regency Hotel on park Avenue, the ultimate luxury hotel.I was also given some product to take home and I am obsessed. The products are so gentle and effective on my hair.
- Collaborating with Ettika | I have been a fan of Ettika since I graduated FIDM in 2010. I discovered the brand when I was an intern. I was looking online for jewelry needed for a beach photoshoot and the stylist was looking for something crazy but with quality and elegance.I was super excited to find Ettika and super excited to have partnered together for my viewers.
At the same time, I get to be a fashion stylist, both outside off my blog and on it.Attending Fashion Week and writing about the collections accomplishes my dream job of being a writer, as well as doing what I love, which is blogging.
If you have an image in your head you want the photoshoot to look exactly like the vision, and finding the exact pieces is sometimes by luck, or endless shopping around.Once the car is loaded, our team drives to the location and sets up. We always make sure we leave enough time to find parking because parking in Los Angeles can be challenging (most of the time it’s paid parking which makes it easier than walking blocks back and forth). After the shoot, we choose the best 5-8 photos from hundreds taken and begin editing with Photoshop. When there are a good amount of flawless photos, the next process is creative writing a content for the client.
And voila! You have a slay post… After only ten drafts, that is.
I am a lover of traveling. When I have the opportunity, I pack two luggage’s and go. Sorry, cannot pack light.
